The Importance of Connection (and Quincy Jones)

Hilary McNevin

On the recent passing of music producer, composer, musician and genius, Quincy Jones, a list of ten lessons was posted on Instagram by Questlove, who was mentored by the Master.

One took my attention, “My contact list is my most important instrument.”

‘Nailed it’, I thought, because regardless of success – and what that looks like for you – a nurtured network is the most valuable, intangible asset you can grow.

In any industry, relationships play a critical role in determining long-term success, fostering innovation, and driving growth.

What does having a strong and evolving network do for you and your business:

• It gives you access to new opportunities and markets that you may not have considered before.

• You can tap into knowledge sharing and others’ expertise. It’s vital to connect with others who are in the same industry, adjacent to your industry and who do something completely different.  There are moments to connect everywhere!

• . Enhance opportunities for collaboration and innovation by meeting like-minded business owners and staying in touch with your network. Nurture them, look after them, support them and they’ll do the same for you.

At Turnip Media, we know relationships in any industry are not just about networking; they are about weaving a web of connections that provide strategic value, foster collaboration, and ultimately contribute to business success.

Turnip’s network amplifies these benefits, offering clients access to new opportunities, expertise, credibility, and the tools needed to innovate and grow in an ever-evolving market.

We grow and nurture our network all the time and will help you do the same.
We’re not musical masters but we are experts in connection and community.
