It's all about family, and collaboration

It was a cold July evening when two of our clients, St Andrews Hotel in Fitzroy and Dal Zotto Wines got together to celebrate family; family business, that is.

At Turnip we work with all kinds of businesses in the food, drink, produce and hospitality spaces, and the one thing they have in common is that they are passionate, kind and thoughtful in their approach to their businesses.

Dal Zotto and St Andrews had that extra detail – they are both owned and operated by family.

We wanted to explore that story further and find out about the good, bad and the interesting in working with your clan, and we thought, let’s do it over dinner with their great food, wines and hospitality.

Around 50 people gathered over four-courses by the St Andrews team with matched Dal Zotto wines.

Our founder, Hilary McNevin, interviewed Christian Dal Zotto about their family business that kicked off back in the late 90s, followed by a chat with the pub’s owners, Jasmin Vujic and Rob Turner.

Jasmin grew up upstairs from the pub and her father Tony, handed the reins to her and Rob a couple of years ago.

The keys we took away from the night is that collaborations between clients can not only broaden their current network and create opportunity to hold more events together, but they can introduce new customers to each business.

Some of Dal Zotto’s Wine Club members had never been to St Andrews and were keen to return. There were St Andrews regulars who knew of Dal Zotto but hadn’t tried many of their wines and they ordered some before they left for the evening.

The increase in brand awareness and opportunity to enhance customer satisfaction were both highlights we took home that night.

We love collaboration – with our clients and our friends – and look forward to many more.
